The casino was opened in 1996. The Gatineau casino thus also serves Ottawa and eastern Ontario. The casino is built on a rocky precipice over what was once a quarry. To the east of the casino is Lac Leamy, from which it gets its name. In the casino itself there are almost 2,000 slot machines and more than 65 tables including Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack, and Texas Hold'em poker (electronic and dealer-dealt). There's also a Royal Ascot electronic horse racing track and a high-limits gaming area and lounge. It is open 24 Hours a Day / 7 Days a Week.
The casino also has a 1,100-seat theatre that has become one of the region's main music venues. Attached to the casino is a 349-room Hilton hotel. The casino is also home to several bars and restaurants. The casino provides the government with some $35 million per year in profit, employs more than 1,500 people and attracts more than three million visitors annually.
